Geolocation.getCurrentPosition

Secure context
This feature is available only in secure contexts (HTTPS), in some or all supporting browsers.

The Geolocation.getCurrentPosition() method is used to get the current position of the device.

Syntax

navigator.geolocation.getCurrentPosition(success[, error[, [options]])

Parameters

success
A callback function that takes a Position object as its sole input parameter.
error Optional
An optional callback function that takes a PositionError object as its sole input parameter.
options Optional
An optional PositionOptions object.
Options inclues:
  • maximumAge: integer (milliseconds]) | infinity - maximum cached position age.
  • timeout: integer (milliseconds]) - amount of time before the error callback is invoked, if 0 it will never invoke.
  • enableHighAccuracy: false | true

Example

};

function success(pos) {
  var crd = pos.coords;

  console.log('Your current position is:');
  console.log(`Latitude : ${crd.latitude}`);
  console.log(`Longitude: ${crd.longitude}`);
  console.log(`More or less ${crd.accuracy} meters.`);
}

function error(err) {
  console.warn(`ERROR(${err.code}): ${err.message}`);
}
